The Ohio Lobbying Association mourns the loss of one of our most distinguished and respected members, Tom Green, who passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025, at the age of 82.
Tom's remarkable 44-year career in government relations began at Columbia Gas, where he established the company's first government relations team—a visionary move that reflected his early understanding of the importance of effective advocacy. His professional journey continued through leadership roles at Kent McGough & Associates and as Vice President of Government Relations for AT&T, before founding Thomas C. Green & Associates in 1990.
Throughout his career, Tom embodied the highest standards of our profession. His approach to lobbying was characterized by unwavering integrity, thoughtful strategy, and genuine relationship-building. Many current OLA members were fortunate to have been mentored by Tom, who generously shared his wisdom and experience with the next generation of government relations professionals.
Tom was a devoted husband to his late wife Lynn, a loving father to his daughter Kristen, and a proud grandfather. After retiring in 2012, Tom and Lynn created their dream home at Buckeye Lake, where they enjoyed life's simple pleasures together.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Ohio Lobbying Association Foundation in Tom's name. This reflects Tom's lifelong commitment to developing future leaders in public policy and government relations.
Tom's legacy will continue to inspire all of us at OLA to uphold the values of honesty, professionalism, and excellence that he exemplified throughout his distinguished career. We extend our deepest condolences to Tom's family, especially our colleague Kristen, and his many friends.
The family will receive friends from 5 - 8 PM on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Schoedinger Midtown, 229 E. State Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at the Church of St. Edward the Confessor, 785 Newark Granville Road, Granville, Ohio 43023. A reception celebrating Tom’s life will follow immediately at The Granville Inn, 314 East Broadway, Granville, OH 43023.
