Lobbyist Volunteers Sought for Ohio YMCA Youth & Government

On March 28 – March 30, and April 11 - 13, Ohio YMCA Youth & Government will be taking over the Statehouse.  We again will have two high school assemblies because the growing number of participating students.

YG is a three-day learning conference in which students participate in a simulation of the democratic process.  YG offers students the opportunity to learn about a wide variety of issues, develop critical thinking skills, and articulate their beliefs while engaging constructively with those who hold like and opposing views.

Youth & Government includes all three branches of government, as well as the Press Corp.  In the legislative program, student legislators elect their leadership and write bills throughout the school year, culminating by debating these bills at the Ohio Statehouse in committee and on the floor.  Students also participate as youth lobbyists.

Each year, YG seeks lobbyists to help mentor the youth lobbyists while they are at the conference.  There are time slots on March 28 and April 11 between 4:15 pm and 7:00 pm where mentor lobbyists are needed, including the dinner for the YG lobbyists.
