L to R: Victor Hipsley OLA President; Clark Siddle, OLA scholarship recipient; Lora Miller, Education Outreach Committee Chair; Howard Harcha, OLA scholarship recipient; Kurt Leib, OLA At-Large Board Member.
The OLA has awarded $1,000 each to Clark Siddle and Howard Harcha, students currently participating in the John Glenn School of Public Policy’s Learning Community. Siddle and Harcha were recognized for outstanding political/governmental service, community service, participation in extra-curricular activities, and awards and recognitions.
The scholarships were awarded as part of the OLA’s annual program designed to encourage undergraduate students toward a career in public service.
Several students competed for the scholarships. OLA Board member and Education/Outreach Committee Chair Lora Miller indicated that the selection committee had a difficult choice to make, indicative of the high quality of students in the applicant pool.
Miller, along with Board President Victor Hipsley and Board member Kurt Leib, visited Page Hall at The Ohio State University to present the scholarships to Biddle and Harcha. Other members of the Learning Community also gathered for dinner, to learn more about the lobbying profession and ask questions.
“We’re so very honored that the Ohio Lobbying Association has again chosen to support our Learning Community students through their scholarship program,” said Director of Philanthropy Jodi Bopp. “The Learning Community students are bright, talented, and extremely dedicated to public service and support from the OLA is truly impactful.”
Education/Outreach Committee Chair Lora Miller expressed her appreciation for the hard work of her Committee members during the scholarship selection process. “I’ve got a great group of people working with me on my Committee,” said Miller. “This is my second year as Chair and with their dedicated assistance, the process has continued to improve. I am very grateful for their efforts.”
