John Glenn Institute Recipients Named.
The Ohio Lobbying Association recently awarded $1,000 scholarships each to two Ohio State University students. The students, Cameron DeHart of Troy and Joshua Westfall of Parma, are members of the John Glenn School of Public Policy’s Learning Community.
OLA Board member and Education/Outreach Committee Chair Mike Carroll noted that the competition was one of the closest ever. “The applicants for the 2010 scholarships were stellar. The submissions were so outstanding that our committee deliberated down to the wire, and it took input from every committee member to determine the winners.”
The scholarships are awarded as part of the OLA’s annual program designed to encourage undergraduate students toward a career in public service. Mr. Carroll, along with OLA Education/Outreach Committee member Josh Hahn, awarded the scholarships at a on May 25, 2010 at a Learning Community dinner celebration featuring Glenn School founders former Senator John and Annie Glenn. The competitive scholarships will help defray the cost of the students’ education, and were awarded based on scholastic achievement, outstanding political or governmental service, community service, participation in extra-curricular activities, and other awards and recognitions.
